UPCOMING
A Party at The End of The World: A micro-rave soundtracked by heady bass and slithering rhythms. A collective mourning and movement through "the heaviness we feel in a world that, we're told, has no future" (Milstein 2017: 7). Dance, sweat, shake and unmake, and maybe find something that resembles hope in the process.
PAST
What are we doing here, in this mangled mass of throbbing bodies? I think it’s a form of mourning. What if this body-shaking bass operates at the frequency with which grief…. resonates?
Through a series of solo and ensemble games and exercises, we will trace the power of inner and outer gazes to spark discovery in the body and imagination.
Flow is hosting a downtown pop-up with Cool East Market—Toronto’s only minimal, barefoot shoe store. Drop in to try on the Xero Shoes HFS II, Lems Primal Zen, and Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III.
Via breath filtered through the flute, we will flow through outer and inner sound worlds, from musical reflections of the current planetary configurations to sounds (and quietude) that draws our attention to our own bodily sounds.
How might we differentiate between hearing and listening, and is it possible to cultivate different modes of listening? In what ways can “hopeful listening“ inform a healing practice and help us navigate the world?
With a focus on its repetition and disruption, we will discuss the sounding and listening body in all its materiality, with case studies on breath work in Sufi practice, laughter, and health obsessive compulsive disorder.
Journey through an alternate sound bath universe, replete with synthesizers and drones. Let us be immersed in the looping vibrations. In dissonance, may we face and phase out of past and present pain.
